Itanagar, Mar 21: Altogether 43 individuals without ILP (Inner Line Permits) were detected during an unannounced ILP checking drive conducted at Jolly/Goloso area of Seijosa sub-division in Pakke Kessang district on Friday.
Following the detection of the violators, a legal case was registered under Section 3 of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) Act, 1873. The individuals were subsequently presented before the magistrate, and upon receiving an externment order, they were deported to Assam via the Seijosa check gate, Pakke Kessang SP Tasi Darang said.
The operation was carried out by a police team led by Seijosa SDPO Sashi Dore, along with SI Sang Thinley (OC PS Seijosa), SI/SG Duyu Talley, ASI Lakhaman Sahu, and other police personnel.
SP Darang, meanwhile, emphasized the importance of character verification of migrant labourers. He also urged landlords to conduct tenant verification before renting out their properties.
"It is the responsibility of employers to obtain ILPs for their laborers," the SP stated. He further cautioned that many labourers migrating from neighbouring states have criminal backgrounds, and proper documentation is crucial for tracking their movements in case of any offenses.
