ICSSR-backed five-day national workshop begins at DBC

ITANAGAR, Mar 26: A five-day national workshop on ‘Design and Development of Library Website Using Open-Source CMS’ commenced at Dera Natung Library, Don Bosco College here on Tuesday.

Supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research - North Eastern Regional Centre (ICSSR-NERC), Shillong, the workshop aims to provide practical training to professionals in Library and Information Science, Information Technology, and Computer Science.

The inaugural session was graced by Dr R N Mishra, retired Professor and HoD Library and Information Science, Mizoram University, Aizawl, as chief guest.

Dr Sudhir Kumar Jena, Librarian and Head (In-Charge) of Library & Information Science at Rajiv Gandhi University, participated as a resource person.

Participants will receive hands-on training on data migration and website development, enabling them to independently create and manage library portals. The program includes expert lectures, practical sessions, and live demonstrations on website design, development, and management.

The key objectives of the workshop are to train library professionals in Open-Source CMS platforms for library website development, enhance technical competence, enabling participants to create websites independently without external assistance, and prepare professionals to tackle technological challenges associated with platforms like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, and Ghost.

The workshop has drawn participants from different regions of Northeast India. During the inaugural session, Workshop Coordinator Dr Sur Chandra Singha, Librarian cum Website Developer, presented an insightful overview of the program.

Asstt Coordinator Dr Ravi Mihu, Asstt Professor of Commerce Dept, also spoke.
