WRGC NSS Unit marks Ambedkar Jayanti with Padyatra and cultural tribute

DEOMALI, Apr 14: The NSS Unit of Wangcha Rajkumar Govt College here commemorated the 134th birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar with a heartfelt and inspiring program, featuring a Padyatra and vibrant cultural performances. 

The event aimed at creating awareness among youth about Dr Ambedkar’s life, his dedication to justice and equality, and his role as the architect of the Indian Constitution.

The celebration commenced early at 6.30 am with a spirited Padyatra from the college campus to APP Gate, Deomali, under the banner of "My Bharat", with the participation of over 66 NSS volunteers.

The program was graced by Principal of WRG Dr Watsen Bangsia, who applauded the efforts of NSS volunteers, urging them to follow the ideals of Dr Ambedkar. She emphasized the role of youth in driving societal transformation and building a vibrant nation.

Delivering the keynote speech, Ngamwang Lowang, Assistant Professor and Programme Officer of the NSS Unit, highlighted the significance of celebrating Ambedkar Jayanti. He stressed that the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 can only be realized by empowering the youth through platforms like NSS, which nurtures character and leadership through service.

A special Preamble Reading ceremony was held, where participants took a solemn pledge to uphold the Constitution of India. The cultural segment included a skit titled "Wake Up Bharat", depicting the life and legacy of Dr Ambedkar, along with a soulful patriotic song performed by NSS volunteers.
