To ensure systemic improvements, transfer and posting of teachers will be carried out ‘only once a year’ based on a ‘robust’ plan: Education Minister

ITANAGAR, Apr 14: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Arunachal Pradesh Unit celebrated the 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar at the State headquarters here today in a befitting way.

As a mark of respect to the architect of India’s constitution, floral tributes were paid at the portrait of Dr Ambedkar by a host of dignitaries.

Speaking as chief guest on the occasion, Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona announced that transfer and posting of teachers from now on will be carried out only once a year based on a ‘robust’ plan in order to ensure systemic improvements in the education scenario.

On improving the education system in the State, Sona noted the encouraging improvement in CBSE results within the State. He said that the state government is “fully” committed to improving the quality of education, especially at the elementary level. He thanked Chief Minister Pema Khandu for his continued focus on transforming the education scenario in the State.

Emphasizing that the primary duty of teachers is to teach and guide students with dedication, he appealed to all stakeholders, especially those associated with the education sector, to extend their full cooperation to the department in the greater interest of the students and the future of the State.

On the occasion, the Minister paid rich tribute to Dr Ambedkar, acknowledging him not only as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution but also as a visionary leader and social reformer who dedicated his life to the upliftment of the marginalized and the establishment of justice and equality in Indian society.

Sona asserted that Dr Ambedkar’s principles and values remain deeply relevant even today, as they continue to guide the nation’s journey toward inclusive development and social harmony. He highlighted that Dr Ambedkar placed great importance on education, firmly believing that education alone could transform society. Drawing a historical comparison, Sona likened Dr Ambedkar to Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, noting that both leaders stood for equality and justice in their respective nations.

Acknowledging the efforts of the BJP government in recognizing Dr Ambedkar’s contributions by observing Constitution Day and honouring him with the Bharat Ratna, he pointed out that it was Dr Ambedkar who initially drafted the bill for the Uniform Civil Code, showcasing his progressive vision for a unified legal framework in India.

Sona further stated that while people are increasingly vocal about their rights and freedom as guaranteed by the Constitution, they often forget their fundamental duties and responsibilities. He urged citizens to remember that the Constitution of India upholds both—rights and duties—and both must be honoured to build a just and balanced society.

State BJP president Kaling Moyong, in his presidential address, elaborated on the objectives and significance of the ‘Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Samman Abhiyan 2025’.

He informed that senior BJP leaders have been entrusted with the role of resource persons to effectively train and empower grassroots workers during the campaign from April 14 to 25. He expressed pride in the dedicated efforts of the party workers who—under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pema Khandu—are tirelessly working to strengthen the BJP at the grassroots level in the State.

Former Minister Taba Tedir, who was present as a resource person, spoke on the life history and contributions of Dr Ambedkar, with special reference to the Constitution of India. He highlighted in detail the biography of Dr Ambedkar and key aspects of Ambedkar's role in drafting the Constitution, his vision for social justice, and his efforts towards uplifting the marginalized sections of society.

Former Minister Tage Taki spoke on the ideological differences between Dr Ambedkar and Jawaharlal Nehru (the then Congress Government). He highlighted Dr Ambedkar’s distinct approach to nationalism, emphasizing his critical stance on the policies of the Congress and his independent vision for a just and inclusive India.

Party karyakartas also took part in the Preamble oath-taking ceremony, administered by Minister Sona, which affirmed our collective resolve to uphold the Constitution and its core values.
