First Masters Degree holder from undivided Subansiri dist passes away

ITANAGAR, Apr 14: The first Masters Degree holder from undivided Subansiri district and former Anchal Samity Chairperson from Upper Subansiri district, Talum Babla passed away at Tomo Riba Institute Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun last midnight following a prolonged ailment.

He is survived by his two daughters and three grandsons.

Born to late Tar Babla and Yamum Pobo Babla on October 12 in 1960, he started his primary schooling from Govt Hr Sec School, Daporijo (formerly Govt Primary School, Daporijo; passed out all India senior secondary examination from GHSS, Daporijo before joining the Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat in 1981. He cleared his post graduation examination with distinction in Geography from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in 1985, thereby becoming the first Masters degree holder from the undivided Subansiri district.

He served the Nyishi Elite Society, Upper Subansiri Unit as chairman and also as Member of NFC of undivided Upper Subansiri district.

Late Babla was one of the senior members of the alumni association of Govt Hr Sec School, Daporijo, and one of the proactive members in the revival of “lost glory” of GHSS, Daporijo.

Meanwhile, the Alumni Association of Govt Hr Sec School, Daporijo has condoled the sudden demise of Talum Babla and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
