Itanagar, May 9: In a move to strengthen the functioning and infrastructure of key state departments, Information & Public Relations (IPR) and Printing Minister Nyato Dukam chaired the 1st Consultative Committee meeting of the Departments of IPR and Printing & Stationery at his office chamber here on Friday.
Addressing the meeting, Minister Dukam assured that he would personally apprise Chief Minister Pema Khandu about the pressing issues faced by both departments. He acknowledged the urgent need for a Web Offset printing machine to enable printing of NCERT textbooks, aiming to alleviate the recurring shortage of school books in the state.
The Minister appreciated the ongoing efforts of the departments and assured that the issues raised would be given due attention, emphasizing the critical role of IPR Dept in disseminating government policies and programs to the public. He called for innovative approaches in public communication and proper implementation of media policies. “The departments must become more vibrant and bring their contributions into the public limelight,” he said.
During the meeting, senior officials from both the departments presented a detailed overview of their activities and highlighted key issues affecting their operations, particularly those related to infrastructure, manpower, and resource allocation. They stressed the need for modernization and capacity building to enhance operational efficiency.
The meeting was also attended by MLAs Rode Bui (Dumporijo) and Namgey Tsering (Tawang), who commended the departments for their contributions to state development and pledged their support in addressing the departments’ needs at the government level. MLAs Nakap Nalo (Nacho) and Jikke Tako (Tali) could not attend due to unavoidable reasons.
The meeting concluded with a productive exchange of ideas and a shared commitment to strengthen both departments for more effective service delivery. Among others, senior officials including the Secretary IPR, Director IPR, and Deputy Director of Printing & Stationery were present at the meeting.
