APLS mourns Taichop Bangyang’s demise

Itanagar, Jun 9: The Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS), led by its president YD Thongchi, held a condolence meeting to mourn the untimely demise of Taichop Bangyang, a talented young poet and short story writer, and an active member of APLS. He passed away on May 16 last.

Born on October 10, 1993, in Lapnan village of Tirap district, Bangyang pursued his schooling at Navodaya Vidyalaya, Tissa, graduated from Wangcha Rajkumar Govt College (WRGC), Deomali, and completed his MA in English from Rajiv Gandhi University. At the time of his passing, he was serving as a guest faculty member at the WRGC.

Paying floral tribute, APLS president Thongchi described Bangyang’s demise as a significant loss to Arunachal Pradesh’s literary landscape, noting the remarkable promise in his writing and his active participation in the Tirap unit's literary activities.

Wanggo Socia also spoke in detail about Bangyang’s life and contributions to literature. Others who paid tribute included Dr Bompi Riba, Gumpi Nguso, Inumoni Das Thongchi, and Moge Basar, among others.

Following the condolence meeting, the 143rd monthly literary sitting of APLS was held. Participants including Gandhi Riyang, Ringu Elapra, Yagyaj, Moge Basar, Gumpi Nguso, and Dr Bompi Riba recited their poems. Isaac Jilen and Gumpi Nguso read their short stories, while Wanggo Socia presented a critical appreciation of Rajkamal Choudhury’s Hindi novel Machhli Mari Hui.
