Military-Civil Fusion Capsule hosted in Aalo to strengthen border synergy

Itanagar, Jun 13: In a significant step towards strengthening civil-military cooperation in Arunachal Pradesh’s border regions, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the civil administration of West Siang and Shi-Yomi districts, successfully organised the Military-Civil Fusion (MCF) Capsule from June 10 to 12 at Aalo, the headquarters of West Siang.

The three-day event aimed to enhance the partnership between military and  civilian stakeholders, promote synergy in addressing security and development challenges, and foster community resilience in the strategically sensitive border regions of Arunachal Pradesh.

The MCF Capsule brought together a diverse group of stakeholders to deliberate on critical themes shaping the future of military-civil collaboration with discussions, workshops and interactive sessions led by experts from the Army, civil administration, industry and other sectors.

The event focused on key areas such as understanding the terrain, people and socio-cultural dynamics of Arunachal Pradesh to promote coexistence, strengthen military readiness and civil support system to safeguard India's eastern frontiers, and developing frameworks for coordinated Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations to ensure a resilient response to crisis.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior officers of the Indian Army, Deputy Commissioners (DCs), Superintendents of Police (SPs), and Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) of West Siang and Shi-Yomi districts, emphasizing a whole-of- government approach.

Officials from the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO) and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) contributed towards industry perspective on regional development.

NGOs such as Sunbird Trust, educators from local colleges and schools, and officials from the departments of Land Management, Forest, Tourism, Sports, Urban Development, and Art & Culture also joined to provide insights on education, community development, environmental conservation, and cultural tourism.
