COE on Economic Growth proposed for Arunachal

Itanagar, Jul 1: In a major move toward long-term economic transformation, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh is exploring the establishment of a Centre of Excellence (COE) on Economic Growth in collaboration with Pahle India Foundation (PIF)—a leading public policy think tank based in New Delhi.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein held a high-level meeting here on Tuesday with Dr Rajiv Kumar, Chairman of Pahle India Foundation and former Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, along with his team, to discuss the contours of this strategic initiative.

Terming the PIF proposal “a significant step forward” towards unlocking Arunachal’s long-term economic potential, CM Khandu said, “With strategic vision and right partnerships, Arunachal can emerge as one of India’s most prosperous states over the next 30 to 40 years.”

Deputy Chief Minister Mein echoed the sentiment, stating that the proposed COE-EG envisions a “future-ready Arunachal powered by knowledge, innovation, and long-term planning.”

He further added that the Centre would go beyond traditional planning by driving data-driven, inclusive, and investment-friendly policies tailored to the state’s unique socio-economic context.

The COE-EG is expected to act as a catalyst in guiding policy formulation, supporting infrastructure and livelihood initiatives, and enhancing human capital. It will also strengthen Arunachal’s role in India’s broader development narrative as envisioned under Viksit Bharat @2047.

The meeting builds on recent collaborative efforts, including the MoU signed between ArSRLM and Pahle India Foundation to advance rural livelihoods and capacity building.

This proposed COE-EG marks a bold step towards institutionalizing development planning and creating a sustainable growth roadmap for Arunachal Pradesh, aligning local aspirations with national goals.
