Itanagar, Jul 1: The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union (AAPWU) and All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union (AAPLU) have jointly written to the state’s Labour & Employment Minister, demanding the immediate cancellation of the State Advisory Committee (SAC) constituted under the Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB).
The unions argued that the existing Board is already functioning effectively in implementing welfare schemes for construction workers, and the formation of a separate advisory committee would only complicate operations and divert focus from the Board’s core objectives.
In their representation, both AAPWU and AAPLU also demanded the discontinuation of non-statutory schemes, asserting that funds collected through labour cess should strictly be used for statutory welfare measures mandated under the Act.
The unions have urged the Minister to intervene and ensure that worker-centric policies are implemented without bureaucratic overlap or misutilization of funds.
