ITANAGAR, Jul 5: The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Arunachal Pradesh unit on Saturday celebrated the birth anniversary of party founder Ram Vilas Paswan at Buddha Park, Bomdila.
The event was attended by State LJP president Riba Pangia, party’s youth wing president Nikon Sangchoju, and several state and district-level party workers.
Recalling the late leader’s illustrious career, Pangia said, “Ram Vilas Paswan was a stalwart leader from Bihar who dedicated his life to the upliftment of marginalized communities. He was a voice for the common man.”
Paswan, a nine-time Lok Sabha MP and two-time Rajya Sabha MP, served as the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution during both terms of the Modi government.
Pangia also shed light on Paswan’s early political activism: “He began his journey with the Samyukta Socialist Party and was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1969. He later joined the Lok Dal in 1974 and served as its general secretary. During the Emergency, he stood firm for democratic values and was imprisoned for his beliefs.”
He added that Paswan’s 1977 election to the Lok Sabha from Hajipur as a Janata Party candidate marked the beginning of a long and impactful political career, driven by public service and social justice.
