NMOPS reiterates demand

ITANAGAR, Sep 22: The National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS), Arunachal Pradesh has reiterated the rollback of the New Pension Scheme. The organization said it has written to the Prime Minister in this regard.

“There are categories of employment system viz. contractual/contingency/work charged/and regular. The contractual/contingency/work-charged employees, spend more than 15 to 20 years to be regularized. As such it is obvious their deposit in PFRDA is minimal, and the pension drawl ability under PFRDA does not even match the expenses of two meals a day. Such a pitiable condition of retired employees is seen across the country.”

Regular employees are also not free from this NPS system as this does not provide social and economic security to the retiring employees. Even the deposits made into PFRDA are not transparent.

The old pension system, which our parents used to draw, had social and economic security and they are spending their post retirement life with ease. The OPS is not a pension; rather it’s a gift to the retiring employees as recognition for their service to the government. It was also having a General Provident Fund with option for withdrawal, reasoned the NMOPS.
