KIMIN, Sep 23: The DBT- APSCS&T Centre of Excellence for Bioresources and Sustainable Development (CoE for BRSD), Kimin, inaugurated a three-day training programme on ‘Embark Your Mushroom Entrepreneurship Journey & Banana Fibre Enterprise Development’.
The inaugural session began with a welcome address and programme briefing by Dr Debajit Mahanta, Project Director, DBT-APSCS&T CoE for BRSD, who emphasized that mushroom cultivation holds immense potential for entrepreneurship, and noted that this training programme can serve as significant step towards promoting mushroom-based enterprises in the State.
Prof Sandeep Das, HoD Biotechnology and Director Technology Incubation Centre, Bodoland University, Kokrajhar (Assam), delivered an expert talk on mushroom cultivation and highlighted the diverse by products from mushrooms including noodles, pastas, and most importantly, how the spent mushroom substrate can serve as organic manure, soil conditioners, and even in new mushroom-growing cycles, reducing costs and waste.
Ocean Gao, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kimin, underlined the role of entrepreneurship in rural empowerment. He emphasized that in any business, patience and etiquette are the true keys to sustainable growth.
Speaking as chief guest on the occasion, Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology Chairman Dr Tage Taki highlighted the pivotal role of farmers in driving the nation’s economy. He stressed that empowering farmers is essential for building self-reliant communities and making the nation truly Atmanirbhar (self-reliant).
He also urged the farmers to avail the benefits from the training programme and for developing close linkage and coordinate with CoE for BRSD, Kimin for technical guidance and further ‘backup support’.
