ANINI, Sep 27: On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Gipulin village in Dibang Valley was today honoured with the prestigious title of “Cleanest Village” by the District Administration and the Department of Tourism.
The recognition was conferred through a certificate of appreciation presented by Deputy Commissioner Bekir Nyorak and Zilla Parishad Chairperson Theko Tayu during a special felicitation ceremony.
The celebration, jointly organized by the Department of Tourism, the Biodiversity & Tourism Management Society, and the Urban Development Department, echoed this year’s theme of “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.”
The day began with a mass cleanliness drive covering major tourist attractions such as the “I Love Anini Point,” Jubilee Ground, Anini Bazar, and Mihundo View Point. Volunteers, officials, and stakeholders came together to spread the message of preserving natural beauty and maintaining litter-free destinations.
A key highlight was the felicitation programme in Gipulin village, which also featured a workshop focusing on community engagement and eco-friendly tourism practices. The recognition of Gipulin village not only honored its dedication to cleanliness but also set a motivating benchmark for other villages across the district.
The event was attended by senior officials, including Executive Engineer of Rural Works Department Kardo Rina, Executive Engineer (Power) Kirdo Loya, District Tourism Officer Lamwang Aran, Junior Engineer (Urban Development) Tana John, and members of the Biodiversity & Tourism Management Society, tourism stakeholders; and the residents of Gipulin, whose active participation ensured the success of the celebration.
