ICAR-KVK Longding holds orientation program on natural farming

KANUBARI, Sep 27: The ICAR-KVK Longding, Kanubari organized an awareness cum orientation programme on natural farming under the National Mission on Natural Farming under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt of India at Mopakhat on Thursday last with the participation of 87 farmers.

At the outset, A Kirankumar Singh, Chief Technical Officer (Agronomy) highlighted the importance of natural farming keeping in view the present scenario of agriculture in the country in general and the State in particular in regards to the health benefit of the consumption of the foodgrains produced under the natural farming.

Singh suggested the farmers follow the natural farming practices with the preparation of required materials like Beejamrit, Jeevamrit. Neemastra, Agniastra, Brahmastra, Dashparni Ark, Ghan-Jeevamrit etc for production of different crops wherever possible.

He has displayed the local herbs which can be used in the preparation of these materials in their homes with rearing the deshi cows which is one of the most important prerequisites.

Dr Deep Narayan Mishra, SMS (Plant Pathology) highlighted the importance of bio-pesticides which can be prepared and used in the field under natural farming for the control of the insect pests and diseases of the crops.

Later, Singh interacted with the participating farmers about their doubts to be clarified and their intention and acceptance of the farming system in the present scenario of agriculture in the district. They were suggested in adopting natural farming in the areas where the chemical fertilizers and other agricultural chemicals were not used for the production of the crops, vegetables or any plantation crops like tea, coffee and arecanut, etc.
