World Tourism Day celebrated with vibrancy across Arunachal

Itanagar, Sep 28: Arunachal Pradesh came alive on Saturday, as vibrant celebrations of World Tourism Day were held across the state, including Aalo and Menchuka Valley, showcasing the state’s adventure spirit, cultural heritage, and the essence of community participation.

At Aalo, more than 100 enthusiastic locals joined hands with the Indian Army’s Spear Corps in a day packed with adventure and learning. Activities such as navigation classes, white-water rafting, river crossing, and rock climbing brought together the thrill of exploration with the spirit of unity. The program highlighted the pristine natural landscape of Arunachal Pradesh and promoted the values of teamwork, resilience, and community engagement through Military-Civil Fusion.

Simultaneously, in Menchuka Valley, children from Govt Pre-Primary School, Lhallung village embarked on an inspiring journey of discovery. The young explorers experienced the breathtaking beauty of the valley, its rich cultural traditions, and historical heritage. This initiative was aimed at nurturing curiosity among the youngest citizens, instilling in them a love for travel, environmental preservation, and cultural pride.

The twin celebrations reflected the true essence of the World Tourism Day 2025 theme: “Tourism for All.” By engaging both local communities and young learners, the events emphasized that tourism is not only about destinations but also about people, participation, and preservation.

LONGDING: Longding joined the global celebration of World Tourism Day 2025 with a series of vibrant events held under the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.” The programme was jointly organised by the Tourism Department, Longding, in collaboration with the Longding Tourism Club (LTC) and the Headhunters Wancho Motorcycle Club.

The day began with an address by LTC chairman Shoman Wangpan at the Longding Parking Lodge, highlighting the significance and impact of tourism. This was followed by a ceremonial flag-off of a Bullet bike rally, which proceeded to the Kanubari Check Gate.

Later, the bikers and LTC team gathered at Jangling Resort, Tissing, where the formal programme was held in a festive atmosphere. The event was graced by Longding Circle Officer Dingzang Baham, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Topha Wangsu. District Tourism Officer Tanyup Kopak also attended, affirming his commitment to promoting the tourism sector.

While addressing the gathering, CO Baham pledged to work for the district’s tourism growth despite local challenges and appealed for greater emphasis on cleanliness and hygiene, describing it as “the cornerstone of thriving tourism.” DySP Topha Wangsu stressed the importance of law and order, urging awareness among both locals and tourists about safety protocols.

President of the Headhunters Wancho Motorcycle Club, Ahon Wangpan, shared the club’s journey and its role in showcasing Wancho culture as a unique attraction for visitors. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Adv Anita Wangpan. Performances by the Niaunu girls dance troupe and Manthak Wangjen added colour and cultural vibrancy to the celebration.

Namsai: The Dept of Tourism, Namsai district, conducted a workshop on “Responsible and Sustainable Tourism” on Saturday at DC’s conference hall to commemorate World Tourism Day 2025 under the global theme of “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation”.

The workshop saw active participation from key stakeholders in the tourism sector of Namsai, including homestays, hoteliers, tour operators, resorts, guest houses and DDUSY beneficiaries (2018-2024). The goal of the event was to foster a deeper understanding of responsible tourism practices and to encourage collaborative efforts for the sustainable growth of the district’s tourism sector.

The workshop concluded with an address from Namsai Deputy Commissioner CR Khampa, who emphasized all stakeholders to educate visitors and enforce advisories issued by the Dept of Tourism in their respective facilities and to focus towards strengthening Tourism in Namsai while reminding all towards collaborative effort.
