5th IRBn HQs gets ‘big’ boost through DGP’s visit

PASIGHAT, Oct 12: In a “big” boost for the Battalion, State Director General of Police Anand Mohan, accompanied by the IGP (Central Range), visited the headquarters of the 5th India Reserve Battalion (IRBn) at Pasighat on Friday last.

On the occasion, the DGP conducted a comprehensive review of the administrative, operational, and welfare activities currently being undertaken within the unit. During the review, the visiting dignitary was apprised of various innovative practices being implemented in the Battalion to promote discipline, efficiency, and overall well-being of the personnel.

As part of the visit, the DGP inaugurated the newly upgraded Sports Complex at the Battalion HQs. The complex includes modern facilities such as a Basketball Court, Pickleball Court, Badminton Court, and Cricket Ground, designed to encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and physical fitness among the personnel. The initiative reflects the Battalion’s emphasis on holistic development and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle within the force.

A key highlight of the visit was the DGP’s interaction with the Drug Recovery Warriors of 5th IRBn — a unique and pathbreaking initiative of the Battalion aimed at the rehabilitation, counseling, and social reintegration of personnel who have successfully overcome substance dependence. The interaction was deeply motivating, as the DGP appreciated their courage, perseverance, and determination to reform their lives. He also lauded the leadership and empathetic approach adopted by the Battalion Command in providing continuous support and structured rehabilitation opportunities to such personnel.

During the course of his visit, the DGP also presented the ISO Certification to the 5th IRBn — a recognition of the Battalion’s consistent commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism, transparency, and administrative efficiency.

The certification underscores the unit’s efforts in institutionalizing quality management practices and setting a benchmark for other Battalions in the State.

Further, the DGP visited the Saksham Centre – The Student Activity and Enrichment Centre, an innovative initiative conceptualized and developed by the Battalion. The Centre is designed to provide a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children, offering access to educational enrichment, creative learning, and recreational opportunities.

Moreover, the DGP appreciated various welfare and community-oriented initiatives being undertaken by the Battalion, commending the efforts of the Commandant and his team for their dedication, creativity, and people-centric approach to policing.

“The visit of the DGP served as a great source of inspiration and motivation for all ranks of the 5th IRBn. His gracious presence, visionary guidance, and encouraging words have infused renewed zeal and enthusiasm among the officers and personnel to continue working with greater commitment, discipline, and a sense of purpose,” stated Garima, CO 5th IRBn.
