Two, including woman peddler, arrested with heroin and cash in Pasighat

ITANAGAR, Oct 14: In a major breakthrough under Operation Dawn 2.0, the East Siang Police has arrested two persons, including a woman peddler, and seized 9.28 grams of suspected heroin, along with Rs 89,000 in cash and a mobile phone, from 4 Mile, Pasighat.

Police sources informed that acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Anti-Drugs Squad (ADS), East Siang, in coordination with the Anti-Drugs Warriors, Pasighat, launched a meticulously planned operation on Monday. An undercover buyer was deployed to approach the suspects, leading to the arrest of Peeman Manham Taloh, identified as a lady peddler, and Tajen Perme, a habitual drug user.

The operation, led by DSP Ayup Boko, In-charge of ADS East Siang, included SI K Tangha, constables S Perme, K Mili, K Talukm, K Riram, and T Padung, as well as lady constables G Pangkak and N Pansa, with vital support from Gumin Mize and his Anti-Drugs Warriors team.

The seizure was carried out in strict adherence to the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, in the presence of Executive Magistrate Mum Messar and independent witnesses.

Following the operation, Peeman Manham Taloh was taken to the Women Police Station, while Tajen Perme and the seized materials were handed over to the Pasighat Police Station, where a case has been registered under Section 21(a) NDPS Act / 3(5) BNS.

East Siang district Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba commended the ADS team for their prompt and professional action, reaffirming the police department’s zero-tolerance policy towards drug-related crimes. He further urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement to help make East Siang a drug-free district.
