Guv unveils ‘Ziro Honour Run’ T-shirt; lauds Army’s efforts to promote national pride & unity

Itanagar, Oct 16: In a significant prelude to the upcoming ‘Ziro Honour Run’, State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik unveiled the official T-shirt for the event at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday.

The unveiling ceremony marked the commencement of the countdown to the patriotic event, scheduled to take place on October 19 in the scenic Ziro Valley. The Governor commended the Indian Army for its efforts in promoting national pride, honouring the valour of brave soldiers, and fostering a shared sense of responsibility towards the nation.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, the Governor said that the ‘Ziro Honour Run’ will celebrate the spirit of unity and courage and will further deepen the bond of mutual respect and camaraderie between the Armed Forces and the local communities.

Organized by the Indian Army in collaboration with the Lower Subansiri district administration and local communities, the ‘Ziro Honour Run’ is a tribute to the gallant soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the 1962 Indo-China War.

As part of the series of events leading up to National Solidarity Day (observed on October 20 every year to honour the Armed Forces and their spirit of national unity), the Indian Army had earlier flagged off the four-day ‘Shaurya Motorcycle Rally’ from Likabali on October 14.

The ‘Ziro Honour Run’ will feature 21 km and 10 km competitive categories, along with a 5 km open run to encourage participation from all sections of society. The event aims to honour the legacy of the 1962 war heroes, foster civil–military harmony, and promote fitness and national integration among citizens.

The run, commencing at 6 am on October 19 from the Central Dree Ground, Ziro, is expected to witness enthusiastic participation from runners across the country, local sports enthusiasts, as well as personnel from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, ITBP, and NCC cadets.

Set amidst the picturesque Ziro Valley, known for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, the event is also expected to boost tourism and community engagement in the region.
