ITANAGAR, Oct 16: A training programme on ‘Foundation Courses in AI/Data Science’ focusing on (i) Fundamentals of Data Curation using Python and (ii) Fundamentals of Data Annotation using Python got underway at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli today.
Jointly organized by the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) in association with NERIST, the programme is being coordinated by Dr M Kathing, HoD Computer Science and Engineering, and Dr Lilapati Waikhom, Asstt Professor, Dept of Computer Science and Engineering, NERIST.
The inaugural session was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including S Gao, Dean (Academic), NERIST, as chief guest; Prof M Chandrasekaran, Dean (Administration); and Prof M Marjit Singh, Dept of Computer Science & Engineering (NERIST) and also the Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for NIELIT Itanagar. Besides, R K Bigensana Singh, Director In-charge, NIELIT Itanagar, also attended the event.
Altogether, 80 students from various departments have enrolled in the training. The programme is designed to equip participants with essential skills in programming, data management, and analytical problem-solving—skills that are crucial for both research and industry applications.
The training programme will continue over the coming days, aiming to enhance the technical competencies of learners across the North Eastern region and to foster stronger collaboration between academia and technical institutions in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
