PASIGHAT, Oct 16: The Assa Diagnostic & Nursing Home (AD&NH), a multi-speciality hospital at Pasighat, has installed the state’s first Thulium Fiber Laser (TFL) lithotripsy machine on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in medical innovation and patient care.

The Thulium Fiber Laser, an advanced medical tool designed for the treatment and removal of stones in the bladder, kidneys, or urethra, places AD&NH among the few hospitals in the Northeast to offer such cutting-edge services. The installation also coincided with the inauguration of the hospital’s new Super-Speciality Block, which includes dedicated Cardiology, Nephrology, and Urology units.

Explaining the new technology, Dr Lego said that the laser uses a flexible fiber inserted through a scope in the urinary tract to break kidney or bladder stones into small fragments, which are then removed using specialized instruments — all without any surgical incisions. “This minimally invasive procedure offers faster recovery and higher precision compared to traditional methods,” he added while overseeing a live demonstration of the laser surgery.

Inaugurating the new facility, Pasighat East MLA Tapi Darang lauded the hospital’s management for bringing state-of-the-art medical technology to the people of Arunachal Pradesh. “Such advanced healthcare equipment will greatly benefit the people of the state, and we are fortunate to have it installed here,” he said.

The legislator urged the hospital authorities to ensure optimal utilization of modern medical technology for the welfare of patients and encouraged residents to avail themselves of these facilities.

With the introduction of the Super-Speciality Block and the Thulium Fiber Laser, Assa Diagnostic & Nursing Home has taken a pioneering step in providing world-class healthcare services within Arunachal Pradesh, reaffirming its mission to deliver advanced and affordable medical care to all.
