Keep learning throughout life to flourish: Panellists at ‘Alumni Meet’

ITANAGAR, Oct 18: In a first since its inception, the Department of Agricultural Engineering of NERIST hosted its first ever Alumni Meet for its BTech graduates at the Silver Jubilee Hall of the institute today.

The event was attended by alumni who graduated from the department since the first batch came out in 1992 up to the year 2020.

Speaking post the inauguration, Director in-charge and Dean (Academics) NERIST Prof S Gao called on the alumni to join hands with the institute in nurturing the current students and help them in achieving their goals through mentorship, providing industry experience and internship opportunities to make them industry ready.

Earlier, while welcoming the alumni, HoD Prof Aditi Bhadra emphasized on the importance of alumni in the growth of the department.

The meet was attended by many servicing Agricultural Engineers from the Water Resources and Rural Works Departments of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland. It was also attended by academicians, civil servants, banking professionals, entrepreneurs & private sector employees who once graduated from the Department of Agricultural Engineering of NERIST, such as Dr Ganti S Murthy (Professor, IIT Indore and National Coordinator, Indian Knowledge System Division, AICTE), Shania Kayem Mize (Dy Chief Electoral Officer, Arunachal Pradesh).

The current students also had an opportunity to interact with the alumni from different professions during panel discussions where the former got their doubts about their career aspirations and opportunities cleared. The panelists concluded that, in whichever profession they want to flourish, it is important to remain curious, enhance self-competency, generate innovative ideas, and keep learning throughout life.
