ITANAGAR, Oct 18: Nyishi Elite Society (NES) president Prof Tana Showren has called upon all sections of society to work for protection and promotion of biodiversity and also for promotion of ecotourism for sustainable development of the area and the State as well.
Prof Showren made this call while addressing a huge gathering at Loa under Tali ADC headquarters in Kra-Daadi district today, as part of NES’ ‘Look Back Tali’ programme.
Prof Showren said that embarking on a ‘mission mode’ programme themed ‘Look Back Tali’ we have reached Tali sub-division to witness the progress made in the area and also interact with the people of the area after nine years since 2016 when the team NES had visited when it was found that the area needed development as it is one of the ‘underdeveloped’ towns inhabited by the Nyishi tribe of the State.
Even the people of the Tali area had confronted the British in 1912 and the Tali circle office was established in 1957 while a Primary School was established in 1961. However the area remained underdeveloped and the NES was made to understand to pursue the matter for development. Following this, a team of NES led by its general secretary Heri Maring visited Tali and motivated the people to join hands and extend support to elected leaders, officers to carry out developmental works. He also asked the people not to compromise any matter related to development and construction of infrastructure for development of the areas.
“No matter which party you belong to, which clan and community you belong to, don’t compromise with the development of Tali which remained underdeveloped for decades,” said Prof Showren.
While appealing to the gathering not to promote polygamy, the NES president also urged them to discard money culture in elections, and to join hands in matters concerning development, connectivity, promotion of education and health sectors of the State, he further said.
“Now, Tali has been connected by road and from here PipSorang is also connected by road. Once road development has arrived and all other developments will follow, it is possible if all sections of society extend cooperation and support in development activities, which will pave the way to bring a better development, peace and progress of people,” the NES chief said.
“From 2016 till date we have seen so many infrastructures come up, and in this regard, interacted with the locals to know about the reality of the development that has taken place so far. The people of the area are so cooperative and welcoming in nature, we hope that the pace of development continues and the area gets all-round development like other towns of the State and equal attention to Tali,” he said.
Among others, NES GS Maring, Tali MLA Jikke Tako, ex-MLA Markio Tado, and NES Kra-Daadi chairman Techi Tabang, also addressed the function.
