Demand for Autonomous Council for TCL region resonates at TCLPF meet

Khonsa, Oct 24: The Tirap, Changlang, Longding People’s Forum (TCLPF) held its general conference here on Thursday, reaffirming its commitment to regional unity and development while renewing the long-standing demand for an Autonomous Council for the TCL region.

In his welcome address, general secretary of TCLPF, Hangliam Sumnyan, outlined the Forum’s vision and called upon the people of the three districts to uphold unity, cooperation, and collective progress. 

Delivering the keynote address, TCLPF president N Changmi reflected on the Forum’s achievements, challenges, and continued efforts toward addressing the aspirations of the people of Tirap, Changlang, and Longding.

Veteran leader and former Minister TL Rajkumar underscored the importance of unity and integrity, reiterating the people’s long-pending demand for an Autonomous Council to ensure equitable development and greater administrative empowerment of the TCL region.

After detailed deliberations, the conference resolved to submit a proposal to the State Government for the creation of 2,000 Grade-D staff posts to provide employment opportunities for the youth of the TCL region.

In his address, the newly selected TCLPF president Sompha Wangsa assured to work with renewed vigor for the welfare and development of the TCL region, with a focus on education, economic growth, and effective implementation of government schemes.
