CM inaugurates key infrastructure projects, Jambey Tashi Memorial Peace Park in Dirang

Dirang, Nov 2: Chief Minister Pema Khandu today inaugurated a series of key infrastructure projects in Dirang sub-division of West Kameng district, including the newly constructed Sub-Divisional Secretariat at Hing Thangkha, a 70-metre double-lane steel bridge over the Meyong River at Kharsa, and the Jambey Tashi Memorial Peace Park at Chug Valley.

Dedicating the new Sub-Divisional Secretariat, Khandu said the modern complex, which brings almost all government departments under one roof, will significantly enhance administrative efficiency and improve the delivery of public services to the people.

“By housing all key departments in a single complex, the new Secretariat will greatly streamline governance and ensure faster and more effective service delivery. This is a remarkable milestone for the people of Dirang,” the Chief Minister said.

The event was attended by Home Minister Mama Natung, Women & Child Development Minister Dasanglu Pul, MLAs Phurpa Tsering, Mopi Mihu, and several legislators from Tawang and West Kameng districts.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a 70-metre double-lane steel bridge at Kharsa, constructed over the Meyong River in Kharkatang. The new bridge replaces an old jeepable suspension bridge and will facilitate movement to Hing Thangkha, Lish, and other areas, easing traffic congestion in Dirang by providing a direct link to the BCT Road (NH-13).

Calling it a “vital step toward improved road connectivity,” Khandu said the bridge would enhance accessibility and boost local development in the sub-division.

Khandu dedicated the Jambey Tashi Memorial Peace Park at Chug Valley in remembrance of his late elder brother, Jambey Tashi, on his punyatithi. The consecration prayers were led by His Eminence Padma Shri Guru Tulku Rinpoche, who offered prayers for peace and for the late leader’s consciousness to progress toward higher Nirvana.

Describing the park as a symbol of harmony and compassion, Khandu said, “May this serene Peace Park stand as a living tribute to my brother’s life of selfless service and the noble path he walked.”

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several key development projects in Dirang, aimed at improving education, connectivity, and public infrastructure.

Among the inaugurated projects were the Infrastructure Development at Government Middle School, Dirang, the Construction of Transit Camp and Boundary Wall at Dirang, and the Augmentation of Water Supply at Bomdila Township (2.37 MLD) from Naga GG to Mandala Top (Phase–I).

Foundation stones were also laid for several crucial connectivity projects, including the Chug Bridge, the road from Munna Camp to Lagam village via Thembang, the road from Thembang CO HQ to Rahung village, the Khonpathar bridge, and the Khasso bridge at Sangti.
