JOLLANG, Nov 3: Minister for Education, Rural Works, Tourism, Libraries and Parliamentary Affairs Pasang Dorjee Sona inaugurated FESTORAMA 2025, the annual College Week celebration of Don Bosco College, Itanagar, on Monday. He also inaugurated the newly completed Astroturf football field and laid the foundation stone for a new academic block at the college campus.
The inauguration of the new Astroturf football field marked a major addition to the college’s sports facilities, providing a modern platform for nurturing young football talents.
Speaking on the occasion, Sona congratulated the college for achieving an ‘A’ Grade accreditation from NAAC, describing it as “an island of hope in a turbulent sea.” He lauded the college’s commitment to holistic education that integrates academics, sports, and culture.
Highlighting the importance of sports under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Sona said the government is committed to strengthening sports infrastructure and promoting physical and mental well-being among students. Citing Swami Vivekananda, he said, “Sports are equal to worship,” urging students to maintain discipline, respect time, and stay away from drugs.
He further emphasized that true sportsmanship lies in teamwork and gracefully accepting both victory and defeat.
Assistant Director of Sports, Karbia Dodum encouraged students to view sports and cultural events as essential components of education, contributing to the Viksit Bharat vision. He also motivated students to consider sports as a viable career path.
The event was attended by All India Football Federation treasurer Kipa Ajay and Papum Pare District Land Revenue & Settlement Officer Takam Titus.
FESTORAMA 2025, a week-long celebration of learning, unity, and sportsmanship, will feature a variety of academic, cultural, and sporting events showcasing the vibrant spirit of Don Bosco College.
