Dao Warriors conduct nationwide outreach on Battle of Walong

Itanagar, Nov 3: A team of officers from the Dao Warriors conducted a pan-India outreach campaign across schools and colleges in Dimapur, Dibrugarh, Namsai, Delhi, Pune, and Mumbai during October–November 2025 to highlight the valour displayed in the Battle of Walong during the 1962 operations.

The initiative aimed to educate and inspire youth about the unparalleled courage and supreme sacrifice of Indian Army and Assam Rifles personnel, who launched the only counter-attack by Indian forces in the 1962 conflict, Guwahati-based Defence PRO Lt Col Mahendra Rawat said.

The presentations witnessed overwhelming participation from students, who demonstrated deep patriotic fervour and curiosity about the heroic defence of Walong—the only counter-attack by Indian forces during the 1962 conflict. At Delhi and Mumbai, senior veterans shared firsthand accounts of the historic battle, adding emotional depth and fostering strong patriotic spirit.

The outreach initiative not only strengthened civil-military connect but also served as a befitting tribute to the brave units that fought in the Battle of Walong and a solemn homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in service of the nation, Lt Col Rawat added.
