Assam Rifles commemorates 150 years of Vande Mataram in Tirap

Khonsa, Nov 7: The Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles on Friday organised a patriotic programme at Khonsa to commemorate 150 years of the National Song ‘Vande Mataram’. The event was part of the nationwide celebration being held across the country from November 7 to 14.

Similar programmes were also organised by the Battalion in the villages of Lazu, Noglo, Wakka, Soha, and Deomali, ensuring participation from across the Tirap district. The events aimed to educate students and youth on the historical and cultural significance of Vande Mataram and to motivate them to join the national campaign celebrating the song’s enduring legacy.

Participants were encouraged to upload individual and group renditions of Vande Mataram on the official portal vandemataram150.in, enabling youth from Tirap to be part of the national tribute.

Officials from the Battalion highlighted that Vande Mataram is not only associated with India’s freedom struggle but also stands as a symbol of national unity, sacrifice, and patriotic spirit.

The Assam Rifles further informed that it will continue to conduct such outreach and awareness programmes to engage and inspire the youth of the region in nation-building activities.
