Itanagar, Nov 8: State Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik interacted with the members of the Press Gallery Advisory Committee of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly at Raj Bhavan here on Friday.
During the interaction, the Governor shared insights into Arunachal Pradesh’s remarkable journey from the pre-Independence era to the present day, highlighting its transformation from a remote frontier region into a rapidly progressing part of the nation.
He noted that the past decade, in particular, has witnessed accelerated development, marked by the construction of extensive road networks and the expansion of 4G internet connectivity across the State. These advancements, he said, have enhanced mobility, strengthened communication, and improved access to essential services for communities in even the most remote areas.
Highlighting Arunachal Pradesh’s vast economic potential, the Governor spoke about opportunities in hydropower, tourism—including religious, cultural, adventure, and eco-tourism, horticulture, and other natural resource-based sectors. With these strengths, he said, the State is well-positioned to contribute significantly to regional and national growth.
Parnaik also underscored the importance of Hindi as a unifying language that fosters communication and understanding among the State’s many tribes and communities. He emphasized that Arunachal Pradesh takes pride in its rich cultural and ethnic diversity while also recognizing the role of indigenous movements in preserving identity, traditions, and social harmony amid ongoing demographic changes.
Reflecting on the evolving role of Governors in the Indian federal framework, Parnaik said that the office now works more closely with institutions, communities, and youth to complement developmental activities and strengthen participatory governance in the State.
The visiting team, led by R Krishna Das, convenor of the Press Gallery Advisory Committee and senior journalist of News Reweting, comprised 16 representatives from various media organizations and senior officials of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly.
