Build Nyobia–Chayang Tajo highway on existing road, demands AKKDACO

Itanagar, Nov 8: The All Kurung Kumey District Anti-Corruption Organization (AKKDACO) has appealed to the state government to construct the proposed National Highway from Nyobia in Kurung Kumey district to Chayang Tajo in East Kameng district along the existing road, citing the convenience and benefit of local residents.

Addressing reporters at the Arunachal Press Club here today, AKKDACO president Tarh Amaa said the proposed alignment of the highway along the bank of river Paniu would cause inconvenience to the people of the area. “If the highway is constructed as per the current survey, it will be a disadvantage for the public. We urge the government to realign the project along the existing road for better connectivity,” Amaa stated.

He informed that AKKDACO has submitted a three-point demand to the Chief Secretary, which includes the construction of new kitchen shed-cum-store buildings for Govt. Primary School Lower Nyapin, Govt Secondary School Nikja, and Govt Residential School Lower Gida under the PM Poshan Scheme.

Amaa alleged that although funds were sanctioned for the 2024–25 financial year, the contractor concerned withdrew the bills after showing photographs of old buildings and submitting false completion reports, without actually constructing the kitchen sheds. He blamed the executing agency, RWD Laaying Yangte Division, for releasing the bills without proper site verification.

The organization has urged the executive engineer of the division to re-verify the sites and ensure that the kitchen shed-cum-store buildings are properly constructed. AKKDACO also demanded the termination of the recently appointed Assistant Block Postmaster (ABPM) and Block Postmaster (BPM) in Kurung Kumey district, alleging negligence of duty. “They are drawing salaries without staying at their places of posting,” Amaa claimed.
