Det AFMSD Likabali validated for operational readiness

Likabali, Nov 8: The validation of the Detachment Armed Forces Medical Stores Depot (Det AFMSD) at Likabali was carried out today by senior medical officers from the formation headquarters and associated medical units.

The visit aimed to assess the detachment’s operational readiness, functional efficiency, and logistical responsiveness in sustaining medical support to troops deployed in forward areas.

The team reviewed infrastructure, warehousing procedures, stock management, and delivery mechanisms to ensure uninterrupted medical supply chains in challenging terrain and operational conditions.

Det AFMSD plays a crucial role in ensuring frontline medical units are fully equipped with essential resources — from critical drugs and surgical supplies to life-saving infusion materials and specialized medical equipment. The detachment serves as the vital link between base depots and forward medical facilities.

By maintaining operational synergy and supply resilience, Det AFMSD continues to uphold its mandate as the medical logistics lifeline of the formation, ensuring the chain of survival remains unbroken even in the most demanding operational environments.

Successful validation of blood bag transportation by road

Meanwhile, the blood support arm of the Corps has successfully completed a critical validation exercise concerning the road transportation of blood bags. The exercise focused on ensuring the safe and viable transit of vital blood resources to the forward locations along Northern borders.

The validation confirmed that the consignment of blood bags dispatched arrived at the surgical centres in the appropriate thermal state and in viable condition, deeming the blood fit for immediate transfusion. This successful transit validates the robustness of the existing cold chain management and logistical protocols for transporting blood across challenging terrain.

As part of this comprehensive exercise, vital liaison visits were undertaken to the medical stores depot detachment set up at location across River Brahmaputra. This visit further strengthened coordination and logistical planning among key medical supply units.

This successful validation reinforces the army's commitment to maintaining a ready and reliable supply of transfusion-ready blood, enhancing the operational readiness and medical support capabilities in the region.
