Annual Sports and Cultural Meet 2025 of VKV Ziro commences

ZIRO, Nov 12: The Annual Sports and Cultural Meet 2025 of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) Ziro got underway at the school playground here today amidst great enthusiasm and colourful display.

Celebrated under the inspiring theme ‘Play with passion, perform with pride and celebrate our culture with joy’, the three-day event will feature a wide range of competitions and performances, including House-wise March Past competition, Traditional dance competition, Fancy Dress on Festivals and Rituals, Yoga display etc.

Tai Arun, Trade Development Officer of Lower Subansiri and Keyi Panyor districts, graced the occasion as chief guest. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the TDO, symbolizing knowledge, purity and enlightenment.

On the opening day, Arun inspected the impressive March Past presented by the four houses — Ekta, Shraddha, Veerta and Gyaan — which reflected discipline, teamwork and school spirit. The Oath-taking ceremony was led by the head girl, Bengia Rikum, reaffirming the students’ commitment to sportsmanship and fair play, while the March Past was led by Tarh Mana.

Addressing the gathering, the TDO shared three valuable principles for a happy and successful life, urging to be ambitious, do not be lazy, and be a person of value.

Meanwhile, he expressed deep sorrow over the tragic demise of a young student from Ziro Valley studying at Sainik School, Niglok in East Siang district and appealed to students to reject all forms of ragging and bullying, urging them to cultivate love and compassion towards their juniors.

Earlier, Principal Suresh Kumar Behera highlighted the significance of sports in fostering both physical fitness and mental strength. He urged students to imbibe the ideals of Swami Vivekananda in every aspect of their lives. (DIPRO)
