Strictly maintain quality standards at every stage of construction: U/Siang DC post inspecting strategic road project

PANGGO, Nov 15: Upper Siang Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang took stock of ongoing Panggo–Jorging Defence Road, being executed by NHIDCL (National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd) through an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor.

The 82-km road aims to provide vital last-mile connectivity to Tango-1 & Tango-2 Army and ITBP BOP locations along the border.

The strategically important project was formally commenced on January 26 this year. Within just 10 months, the contractor has achieved 15.500 km of formation cutting, including construction of breast walls and retaining walls at multiple locations—an exceptional feat considering the challenging hilly terrain of the region.

During the field inspection and interaction with project engineers, the DC appreciated the satisfactory progress made so far. He also instructed the engineering team to strictly maintain quality standards at every stage of construction, including sub-grade preparation, GSB, WMM, DBM, and BC works.

Further, the DC said that the completion of this road will not only significantly enhance strategic mobility but also improve accessibility to remote border areas. (DIPRO)
