Itanagar, Nov 19: State Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik handed over a NEEPCO CSR-sponsored school bus to the Oju Welfare Association (OWA) and flagged it off from Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday.
The ceremony was attended by OWA Chairperson Ratan Anya, Head of Plant (Pare Hydro Power Station) Er Sania Ngurang, DGMs (Tech) Er Taba Gagung and Er Hari Shankar Nath, Oju Mission School Principal Sheema Domai, along with enthusiastic students and teachers.
The Governor, who had personally taken the initiative to facilitate the bus under NEEPCO’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, appreciated the Corporation for its generous support. He said such assistance is invaluable for children with special needs and will greatly enhance their access to education and daily learning.
Noting that Arunachal Pradesh does not have major industries of its own, the Governor said the State looks towards power corporations for meaningful CSR support. He expressed hope that NEEPCO would continue to take up projects benefiting institutions working for children with special needs.
Expressing delight that the Oju Mission School—an institution dedicated to nurturing some of the State’s most deserving children, whom he described as Arunachal’s “Shining Stars”—received the vehicle, the Governor said the assistance would further strengthen OWA’s commitment to providing care, protection and education.
OWA Chairperson Ratan Anya extended heartfelt gratitude to the Governor for his initiative and thanked NEEPCO for providing the much-needed bus that will ensure comfort and safety in the children’s daily commute.
Er Sania Ngurang, Head of Plant, Pare Hydro Power Station, thanked the Governor for his guidance and assured that NEEPCO remains committed to taking up more compassionate and impactful CSR projects in the future.
