RPF, NFR nabs six persons involved in theft of passengers’ belongings

MALIGAON, Nov 23: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway, while conducting regular checks and drives within the zone from 19th to 20th November, 2025 apprehended six persons involved in theft of passengers’ belongings. During this check, they successfully recovered valuables worth approximately Rs 1 lakh 65 thousand from trains and railway stations at Guwahati and Katihar.

All apprehended persons along with the recovered valuables were handed over to the respective In-charge of GRP for further legal actions.

In a recent incident on 20th November, the RPF of Katihar jointly with CPDS team of Katihar conducted checking at Katihar railway station and apprehended two persons with two stolen mobile phones worth around Rs 40 thousand. On the same day, RPF team of Guwahati jointly with CPDS team of Guwahati conducted a check at Guwahati railway station and apprehended one person and recovered two stolen gold rings worth around Rs 80 thousand.

On 19th November, the RPF team of Katihar (East) jointly with CPDS team and GRP of Katihar conducted a check at Katihar railway station and apprehended one person and recovered one stolen mobile phone worth around Rs 20 thousand.

During the month of October this year, RPF of NFR arrested 19 persons involved in theft of passenger’s belongings and recovered 20 mobile phones, etc, with a total worth around Rs 2.73 lakh.  All apprehended persons along with the recovered valuables were handed over to the respective In-charge of GRP for further legal actions.
