Khandu lauds role of Vidya Bharati schools in shaping values-based education

Itanagar, Nov 23: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Sunday expressed deep appreciation for the role played by Vidya Bharati schools in the state, commending them for shaping students into patriotic, disciplined and culturally rooted individuals.

The Chief Minister was speaking during a meeting with Gobind Chandra Mahant, all-India general secretary (organisation), Vidya Bharati, Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan, along with members of the Vidya Bharati Arunachal unit.

“Students studying in Vidya Bharati schools grow up to become patriotic, disciplined and culturally grounded individuals,” Khandu said, highlighting how the institutions instil the values of Bharatiya ethos and character-building education.

He lauded Vidya Bharati for nurturing young minds with a spirit of nation-building and a strong sense of pride in India’s rich civilisational heritage.

Representatives from the Vidya Bharati Arunachal branch, including patron Tai Tagak, Tumge Lollen (secretary, Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti) and Sukumaran K (state coordinator, Vidya Bharati Arunachal Pradesh), were also present at the meeting.

Key issues, including the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and related aspects such as child grooming, promotion of mother tongue and holistic development, were discussed. The meeting also explored possible areas of collaboration between the Government and Vidya Bharati in implementing the policy in the state.

CM Khandu reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting educational models that blend academic excellence with moral and cultural values. He emphasised the need for an education system that not only develops intellectual abilities but also fosters ethical citizenship and cultural awareness among the younger generation.

The meeting marked a renewed commitment towards strengthening value-based education in Arunachal Pradesh.
