Training for 2nd & 3rd polling officers held at Likabali

Likabali, Dec 2: In preparation for the smooth conduct of the upcoming Panchayat polls, a comprehensive PR training programme for 2nd and 3rd polling officers was successfully conducted today at the Likabali Circuit House premises here.

Addressing the session, Lower Siang Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer (PR) Rujjum Rakshap elaborated on the duties and responsibilities of each polling officer. He urged the trainees to maintain discipline, accuracy and complete neutrality while performing their election-related duties.

Delivering the welcome address, ADC-cum-DPDO Mokar Riba stressed the importance of preparedness, fairness and strict adherence to established election protocols. He highlighted the crucial role played by polling personnel in ensuring a free, fair and transparent electoral process.

Two detailed technical sessions on the election process were conducted during the programme. The first session, a PowerPoint presentation on the Election Process (Part I), was delivered by ADC-cum-Returning Officer, Nari, Ainstein Koyu, covering key procedures and guidelines for polling officials. The second session, Election Process (Part II), was presented by Assistant Commissioner Janes Mary Tayeng, with a special focus on practical instructions, documentation requirements and step-by-step operations inside the polling station.

A live demonstration of the ballot box was conducted by Tumkar Ete, enabling the trainees to gain hands-on understanding of its handling and operational procedures. An interactive question-and-answer session was also held, providing participants with the opportunity to seek clarifications on various aspects of polling duties.

The DEO urged all polling personnel to effectively apply the knowledge gained during the training and perform their responsibilities with dedication to ensure a peaceful, transparent and successful Panchayat election in the district. (DIPRO)
