Tawang, Dec 3: Executive Director (PMD–RDSS), REC Limited, Prince Dhawan, conducted a comprehensive review of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) implementation in Arunachal Pradesh during a high-level meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Tawang Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Wednesday. The review was part of his three-day visit to the state from December 2–4 to assess on-ground progress and accelerate key power distribution reforms.
During the meeting, the Executive Director directed all stakeholders to accelerate smart metering implementation across all divisions, resolve technical and operational issues through coordinated field action, enhance inter-departmental coordination for timely completion of works, intensify field activities while maintaining strict quality and safety standards, and conduct regular virtual reviews with districts for monitoring and accountability
Drawing from his earlier tenure in Arunachal Pradesh, Dhawan said he understood the state’s unique challenges and assured REC’s continued technical and administrative support. He emphasised that strengthening the power distribution network was critical for improving reliability, reducing losses and enhancing consumer services across the state.
Welcoming the Executive Director, State’s Power Secretary RK Sharma acknowledged existing challenges but urged all implementing agencies to work in close coordination to meet project deadlines. He stressed the importance of prioritising the completion of smart metering in all 42 identified towns of the state.
DC Namgyal Angmo expressed confidence that the review would help resolve bottlenecks and improve implementation momentum. She reaffirmed the district administration’s full support in ensuring timely execution of RDSS interventions, highlighting the importance of such engagements for improved public service delivery.
A detailed presentation on district-wise and component-wise progress under Loss Reduction (LR), Smart Metering (SM), and System Strengthening (SS) was made, highlighting achievements as well as areas requiring urgent attention.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Power Department including Chief Engineer (Power), CEZ & State Nodal Officer, RDSS, G Lingi; Chief Engineer (Power), WEZ, D Tajapodia; and Executive Engineers from various divisions. Representatives of PMAs, PGCIL, TKCs, AMISP, TPQMA and other implementing agencies were also present. Officials from various districts joined the meeting virtually, enabling a unified statewide review.
REC Limited reaffirmed its commitment to supporting GoAP and urged all agencies to adopt a mission-mode approach to ensure timely, quality-driven completion of RDSS components, paving the way for a stronger and more reliable power distribution system in the state. (DIPRO)
