Ita Police arrests suspected drug peddler with heroin

Itanagar, Dec 7: In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, the Itanagar Capital Police on Sunday apprehended an alleged drug peddler and seized 94 plastic vials containing suspected heroin during a targeted operation in the capital region.

The accused has been identified as Md Anitullah (22), a native of Rampur in East Champaran district of Bihar and presently residing at Toshi Apartment near Ganga Market, Itanagar.

Acting on specific input regarding his involvement in the sale and possession of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, a police team led by Itanagar SDPO Kengo Dirchi, and operating under the close supervision of SP Jummar Basar, immediately launched an operation to intercept the suspect. The raiding team comprised Inspector Khiksi Yangfo, SI Padam Padi, SI R.K. Jha, ASI Marki Kamgo, Constables Tayo Bodo, Nik Kabak, Tago Ligu and lady constable Techi Mekap of WPS Itanagar.

During the operation, Md Anitullah was successfully apprehended and a lawful search led to the recovery of 94 plastic vials containing suspected heroin, weighing approximately 14 grams, with an estimated market value of around Rs 2.5 lakh.

Following the seizure, a case has been registered at Itanagar Police Station under Sections 21(b), 27(A) and 29 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to ascertain his network and possible links to larger drug trafficking syndicates.

SP Basar commended the swift and coordinated action of the police team, highlighting that the arrest of this habitual drug peddler marks another significant step in the continuous efforts of the Itanagar Capital Police to curb the menace of drug trafficking in the region.
