Guv, DGBR review border connectivity projects

Itanagar, Dec 13 (UNI) Director General of Border Roads (DGBR) Lt General Raghu Srinivasan called on Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik at Lok Bhavan, Itanagar on Saturday. The meeting focused on strengthening strategic road connectivity to border areas, ensuring regular maintenance, and establishing mechanisms for swift restoration of road links during disruptions.

The Governor, on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, expressed gratitude to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for completing 10 strategically vital roads and 22 bridges under the Arunank, Udayak, Vartak and Brahmank Projects. These crucial infrastructure assets were virtually inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on December 7 last, marking an important milestone in the State’s infrastructure development.

Highlighting the importance of the projects, the Governor said the enhanced national security infrastructure would improve military mobility, ensure year-round access to remote and sensitive areas, and strengthen the armed forces’ operational preparedness.

He added that improved connectivity would also deliver significant socio-economic benefits, promoting development and improving livelihoods across the State.

The Governor also lauded BRO’s humanitarian and community-focused initiatives, including medical outreach camps in remote villages and the establishment of Play and Learning Rooms for children of casual labourers engaged in road constructions, terming them a reflection of the Organisation’s commitment to public welfare.

DGBR Lt General Srinivasan briefed the Governor on the progress and challenges of ongoing strategic projects and reaffirmed BRO’s commitment to timely delivery of high-quality infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh.
