DA carries out surprise raid at town pharmacies, seizes expired medicines

DAPORIJO, Jan 7: The Upper Subansiri District Administration conducted a surprise inspection of all pharmacies operating within the Daporijo town this morning.

The inspection was led by Ama Nungnu Mara, town magistrate, Daporijo along with Adap Maling, in-charge Trade & Development Officer.

During the inspection, several irregularities were detected, including the stocking of expired medicines, operation without valid trading licences, and failure to produce mandatory certificates as required under prevailing rules and regulations.

The District Administration has taken serious note of these violations. Necessary legal action will be initiated against the defaulters as per the provisions of law to safeguard public health and consumer safety.

All seized expired medicines were immediately disposed of through the deep pit burial method following due procedure, in presence of the inspection team.

Meanwhile, the District Administration has appealed to all pharmacy owners and traders to strictly adhere to licensing norms and regulatory requirements and to ensure that only safe and valid medicines are sold to the public.

Such inspections will continue in the interest of public health and welfare. (DIPR)
