Itanagar, Jan 7: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Tuesday chaired a comprehensive review meeting on the Kalai-II Hydroelectric Project (1200 MW) in Anjaw district, one of the State’s major and viable hydropower initiatives.
During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister reviewed key issues related to environment and forest clearances, land acquisition and rehabilitation & resettlement (R&R), and wildlife conservation. He directed all concerned departments and agencies to expedite statutory clearances and remove procedural bottlenecks to ensure smooth and timely progress of the project.
Mein also instructed officials to fast-track construction of power evacuation infrastructure, including the 132 kV Tezu–Halaipani transmission line, to avoid delays in commissioning and to ensure effective transmission of generated power.
Describing the Kalai-II HEP as a critical project for Arunachal Pradesh’s energy security and long-term development, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the State Government is committed to extending all necessary support for its time-bound execution.
The meeting was attended virtually by Minister Dasanglu Pul, Advisor to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh H K Paliwal, Secretary (Land Management) A K Singh, and other senior officers and stakeholders associated with the project.
