Guv: Cleanliness, orderliness & aesthetic enhancement vital for better urban life

Itanagar, Jan 10: Emphasizing the crucial role of urban governance in improving the quality of life, State Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik today underlined the need for cleanliness, orderliness, and aesthetic enhancement across all municipal areas, stating that well-maintained public spaces reflect civic pride and responsible administration.

The Governor made these remarks while interacting with Gora Lotak, newly elected Corporator of Ward No. 11 of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation, who called on him at Lok Bhavan, Itanagar, and sought his guidance and support for the holistic development of the ward, particularly as Lok Bhavan falls within Ward No. 11.

During the meeting, the Corporator apprised the Governor of the challenges faced in his area with regard to cleanliness, waste disposal, hygiene, and sanitation, and also briefed him on the status of public and private structures as well as essential civic services.

Congratulating Lotak on his election, the Governor extended his best wishes and encouraged him to remain committed to public service and work with dedication for the welfare and well-being of the residents of his ward.

Highlighting that Lok Bhavan is located in Ward No. 11, the Governor said the ward should set high standards in cleanliness, planning, and civic discipline, and emerge as a model for other wards of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation to emulate.

Advising a participatory and people-centric approach, the Governor said corporators should undertake avenue plantation drives in close coordination with the Department of Environment and Forests. He noted that such initiatives would not only enhance the city’s beauty but also contribute to environmental sustainability and improved air quality.

The Governor further stressed that corporators must act as social facilitators by engaging citizens, fostering community ownership, and motivating residents to actively participate in cleanliness, conservation, and development efforts.
