Mishmi Takin statue unveiled at Anini to promote eco-tourism & conservation

ANINI, Jan 29: In a significant step towards transforming Anini into a premium and eco-conscious tourist destination, local MLA cum Advisor to the Minister for Tourism, Mopi Mihu, on Thursday unveiled a statue of the endangered Mishmi Takin at the heart of Anini town.

The statue was unveiled in the presence of Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner Bekir Nyorak, Superintendent of Police Ringu Ngupok, Sub-Divisional Officer Lijum Ete, former Zilla Parishad Chairperson Theko Tayu, and District Tourism Officer Lamwang Aran, among other officials.

Anini, being the natural habitat of the rare Mishmi Takin, holds immense ecological significance. The newly installed statue symbolizes the district’s commitment to pursuing development in harmony with the conservation of biodiversity and environmental sustainability.

Adding significance to the occasion, a flower plantation drive was carried out along the Mishmi Takin Point, enhancing the area’s aesthetic appeal while underscoring the importance of environmental stewardship. This was followed by an oath-taking ceremony, during which officials and participants pledged not to kill or consume wild animals and reaffirmed their dedication to protecting wildlife and nature.

Heads of various departments and administrative officers actively participated in the programme, reflecting a collective and coordinated approach towards sustainable development and wildlife conservation in the district. (DIPRO)
