Itanagar, Feb 2: Continuing her remarkable quest to scale the highest peaks across all continents, Arunachal Pradesh mountaineer Kabak Yano, as part of her ambitious 7-Summit Mountaineering Expedition, has successfully summited Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America, on February 1 (Sunday).
Standing at 22,831 feet above sea level, Mount Aconcagua in Argentina is the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere and is considered one of the most demanding climbs in the world, even for seasoned mountaineers.
State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik congratulated Yano on her outstanding achievement, lauding her indomitable spirit, courage and unwavering determination. The Governor said that her success is not only a personal milestone but also a powerful source of inspiration for the youth of the state. He noted that her journey vividly demonstrates how discipline, perseverance and self-belief can help overcome even the most formidable challenges.
Reiterating his commitment to promoting sports and adventure activities among young people, the Governor expressed confidence that Yano’s achievements would encourage more youths of Arunachal Pradesh to pursue sports, mountaineering and other adventure disciplines with confidence and enthusiasm.
The Governor had formally flagged off Yano’s 7-Summit expedition from Lok Bhavan, Itanagar, on July 28 last, in the presence of State’s Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Kento Jini, extending his best wishes for her global mission.
Kabak Yano, one of Arunachal Pradesh’s proud Everesters, has already created a strong mark in the world of mountaineering by successfully summiting Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, on August 4, 2025, and Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe, on August 16, 2025.
The prestigious 7-Summit Mountaineering Expedition involves climbing the highest peaks on all seven continents — Mount Everest (Asia), Aconcagua (South America), Denali (North America), Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mount Elbrus (Europe), Vinson Massif (Antarctica) and Puncak Jaya or Mount Kosciuszko (Oceania) — a rare and demanding feat achieved by only a select group of mountaineers worldwide.
