PRI training program inaugurated at Rumgong

Rumgong, Feb 2: The Block Level Foundation-cum-Functional Training Programme for newly elected Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members and functionaries of Rumgong Block was inaugurated on Monday at the Rumgong Community Hall.

The three-day programme, being held from February 2 to 4, aims to strengthen grassroots democratic governance and improve the effectiveness of development delivery at the Gram Panchayat level.

The programme was inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner, Rumgong, and Member Secretary, Bomgam Padu, who highlighted the crucial role of Member Secretaries in supporting Gram Panchayat Chairpersons in planning, implementation and monitoring of developmental activities. He emphasised that coordinated teamwork between elected representatives and officials is vital for transparent, inclusive and result-oriented governance.

During technical sessions, the Agriculture Development Officer, Rumgong, briefed participants on key Central and State flagship schemes with focus on sustainable agriculture, productivity enhancement and livelihood improvement.

The Block Mission Manager discussed livelihood promotion through Self-Help Groups, stressing their role in women empowerment and micro-enterprise development.

The training is being coordinated by S W Bagang, SIRD Assistant Director-cum-Course Director, and Sujit Kundu, Consultant, NIRD.
