PM-NAPS–NER awareness workshop held in Ziro

Ziro, Feb 6: A pilot awareness workshop-cum-mobilisation drive under the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (PM-NAPS)–NER for Lower Subansiri district was conducted at Hotel Blue Pine here on Friday.

Attending the programme, Lower Subansiri Zilla Parishad Chairperson Hibu Dumi said hard work, patience and passion were the key mantras for youth to achieve success in life. He noted that earlier generations had limited exposure to skill development and employment opportunities, but today both the Central and State governments are offering numerous welfare schemes to equip youth with skills and jobs.

Appreciating the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (DSDE) for organising the workshop, Dumi stressed the need to conduct similar awareness programmes at the grassroots level. He appealed to the department to deploy resource persons to conduct cluster-based programmes at the Panchayat level to reach unemployed youth.

Sub-Divisional Officer Hage Tarung said the government is giving priority to skilling and employment generation. Emphasising dignity of labour, sincerity and honesty, he advised youth to set career goals early and opt for vocational skills if higher studies or government jobs were not their preferred paths.

DSDE Deputy Director Gyati Kacho explained flagship programmes of the department, including NAPS and SAPS, through a presentation. DSDE consultant Tonuruchi Olimman briefed participants on the Chief Minister’s Soft Loan Scheme and Foreign Language Training Programme with overseas placement support.

The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from ITI Manipolyang trainees, college students, NGOs, youth organisations and unemployed youth.
