Itanagar, Feb 7: The Lower Dibang Valley district administration has imposed restrictions on the movement of goods carriers, trucks and commercial light motor vehicles (LMVs) on the Deopani-Hunli stretch of the Roing-Anini road from 3 pm on Saturday to 9 am on Sunday.
The road will be opened for a brief six-hour window on Sunday, after which movement of all two- and four-wheeler vehicles will again be suspended from 3 pm till 9 am the following morning. However, vehicles engaged in essential and emergency services have been exempted from the restriction.
The decision was taken following a recommendation from an expert committee to regulate vehicular traffic on the stretch to facilitate emergency mitigation measures related to recent human-tiger conflict incidents. The recommendation was conveyed to the district administration by the Divisional Forest Officer, Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary Division, Roing.
Meanwhile, Lower Dibang Valley SP Manish Shaurya informed that motorcycles of tourists stranded in Anini were transported across the tiger-prone Mayodia area by loading them onto trucks. The operation was facilitated by the LDV Police with the assistance of local transporters.
