‘Mediation for the Nation 2.0’, a 90-day nationwide drive launched

Itanagar, Feb 12: The Mediation & Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court of India has launched a nationwide 90-day campaign, “Mediation for the Nation 2.0”, with effect from January 2, 2026, aimed at facilitating the settlement of pending cases across courts in the country.

The initiative seeks to promote amicable resolution of disputes through mediation, particularly in cases that have scope for settlement. Matters that may be referred to mediation under the drive include matrimonial disputes (including cases under the Domestic Violence Act and Section 498A IPC/Section 85 BNS), commercial disputes, cheque bounce cases, suitable service matters, motor accident claim cases, labour law disputes, criminal compoundable cases, cases under the Contract Act, land acquisition matters, consumer cases, partition suits, eviction cases, and other suitable civil matters.

The campaign is designed to encourage speedy and effective dispute resolution outside the conventional trial process. By opting for mediation, litigants can benefit from swift compromise and settlement, reduced litigation costs, and a less adversarial approach to resolving disputes.

The general public and litigants have been urged to actively participate in the initiative, which contributes to the larger goal of ensuring accessible and timely justice for all.
