ITANAGAR, Feb 14: Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik has extended his warm greetings to the people of the state on the eve of Tamla Du and Ali-Aye-Ligang festivals.
Conveying his sincere wishes to the Tawran (Digaru) and Kaman (Miju) Mishmi brethren on Tamla Du, the Governor expressed hope that the revered festival would usher in happiness, harmony, and prosperity for all, while strengthening the bonds of unity within the community.
In his message, he stated that Tamla Du is a profound celebration of faith, culture, and reverence for nature, bringing community members together to uphold their age-old traditions and rich cultural heritage. During the festival, the Mishmi people offer prayers to Lord Jabmalo and the forces of nature, seeking protection from natural calamities, good health for families and livestock, and abundance in newly sown crops. Rooted in traditional wisdom, the festival reflects a deep understanding of the symbiotic relationship between humanity and nature and underscores the collective resolve to protect and preserve the environment.
Extending greetings on Ali-Aye-Ligang to the people of the state, especially the Mising community, the Governor wished that the vibrant festival ushers in contentment and prosperity for all and marks the beginning of a season filled with hope and abundance.
He noted that agriculture remains the backbone of rural communities, and festivals like Ali-Aye-Ligang beautifully celebrate the deep bond between the people, the land, and nature.
